    Sporting Blog – September 2025

It has been a great start to the school year in PE with all the children starting their new topics and skills in their new year groups!

Miss Boyd and Miss Fitzpatrick have been so impressed by the children's attitude, behaviour and willingness to learn in both their Games unit and Gymnastics units.

The children have been learning the following,

    Year 1:

Large ball skills including rolling, kicking and throwing

Flight, looking at bouncing, jumping and landing.

    Year 2:

Throwing and catching and inventing individual games.

    Parts high and low.

    Year 3:

Ball skills focusing on passing and receiving.

    Stretching and curling.

    Year 4:

    Invasion games

    Balance

    Year 5:

Invasion and target games (specifically looking at netball and basketball skills)

    Flight

    Year 6:

Invasion games (basketball, netball and tag rugby will all be covered!)

    Matching and mirroring.

We have already attended 2 events this term with our Girls’ and Boys’ football teams representing the school at their tournaments. We also have plenty more events coming up so lots of opportunities for the children to represent Quarry Hill with pride. Years 5/6 and 3/ 4 Cross Country,

Years 5/6 Tag Rugby, KS2 Kurling, 5/6 Basketball and KS1 Football. Watch this space for updates!

We hope children have been enjoying all the clubs we have on offer as much as we have. We still have some spaces so keep an eye on Arbor if your child would like to attend.

We can tell this is going to be a very fun, exciting and successful year for Quarry Hill in PE.

    Miss Boyd and Miss Fitzpatrick.
