Our final week in year 4. We have had a fantastic year and have really matured over the year. We want to thank you for all your support throughout the year and we hope you all have a lovely summer and stay safe!
When we come back we will be in year 5!
We cannot believe we have had one of our final weeks in 4KR!
This week as one of our finals weeks we have been collecting data. Tally charts, bar charts and line graphs!
This week, we took part in Pro Strike! We raised money and kicked a ball at the goal to see the speed.
This week, we have taken advantage of the sun and our love of reading. We went outside and did some shared reading on the grass.
This week we participated in Sports Day! We loved every minute of it…. We participated in three different activities.
This week in year 4 we’ve had an amazing first week back. We are ready for our very last term! On Friday, we went to the Sealife Centre to look at habitats and the environment! We had so much fun and were so happy the weather stayed nice.
This week in year 4 we had our Enrichment day, we researched Anglo Saxons on the internet and made a PowerPoint. We also made little villages between us and even made bread in the afternoon. We have had a great Summer 1 learning all about the Anglo Saxons!
Today we had pajama day! We also had climate change day. We researched issues around the world like, deforestation, climate change, plastic pollution, ice melting and recycling. We designed posters and shared advice on how to make the world a better place!
This week in maths, we have been looking at bus stop division, ready for assessment week next week. We have found it quite tricky, however we have used our growth mindsets to help us get through!
This term in DT, we are learning about Pavilions. Over the past 2 weeks, we have been researching and designing our own. This week, we have been designing a smaller version of our pavilions that we will design in two weeks time.
This term In year 4, we are learning all about the Digestive System – so we created our own. Using a banana, digestive biscuits, water, orange juice and tights we made the digestive system! We mixed the water, food and orange juice together in a food bag. The orange juice was the acid and the bag was the stomach. We then used tights for the intestine, squeezing out any of the juices. After, we cut the tights and squeezed the food out as if it was faeces!
A great first week back for 4KR. We have been learning all about Tongo Lizards in English. Over half term, we were infested by these creatures! We have written an email to the whole school to make them aware that they are around the school but not to panic! We've shared lots of information about these creatures. Next week, we will be writing a non-chronological report.
In year 4 this term, we have been learning all about Global Trade.
Something that came up in our unit is Fairtrade. Fairtrade is a trade that allows people in poverty, and different countries, to get a fair amount of money for what they are producing.
We have made posters to promote Fairtrade and how important it is.
Spring term is now over and we are excited for Summer term. Have a lovely 2 weeks off, all of year 4.
In RE this term we have been learning about different religions and their Rites of Passage. We have compared a Baptism, Bar/Bat Mitzvah and the Hindu way of birth, death and rebirth.
We have spoken about journeys and how journeys are different for everyone, we also wrote down what we wanted to achieve in our lives at certain ages!
This week we had our World Culture Enrichment day. We researched Fairtrade products on food websites and compared them to normal products. We also did a 24 hour challenge – travel round the world in 24 hours how many countries can you visit?
We did a treasure hunt outside and even ate food from different countries! What an amazing Friday we had.
This week we have started making our Totem poles out of clay come back next week to see how they are looking. We also had a fantastic day at World Book Day and got to read with 1GR!
We have been working really hard and have enjoyed our second week back 😊
WOW what a busy first week back we have had, in art we have been learning about Native America.
We have designed Totem Poles… we will make them out of clay by the end of the term.
To end our Spring 1 term we have gone on a trip to Kent Life to finish our Ancient Greek unit! We have absolutely loved our workshops!

This week in year 4 we have been learning about Greek Myths. We wrote a character description about a Minotaur and it was one of the best pieces yet!
This week in year 4 we have been sewing! We planned and designed book covers as part of the DT project we are doing this term.
Next week we will add a fastening and some designs to it!
This week we celebrated Culture Day! We looked at 5 different cultures we danced to Bollywood music, made Chinese lanterns, tasted Moroccan food.
We also painted and did a picture of the Taj Mahal.
This week in History we started our new topic - Ancient Greek. We wrote a comparison between Athens and Sparta. We are looking forward to learning lots more and our school trip in February ...
We had a great time off. This week in RE we have been looking at life journeys!
WOW we have finally made it to the end of the term! Autumn term done, well done to 4KR who have worked extremely hard in all subject this term.
At the end of the term we have let our hair down, had Christmas parties, ate snacks and watched films.
We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We know it is what you have been waiting for…..our sound generators are ready!
We really enjoyed making these and it was a great way to end our unit of Sound.
This term in year 4 we have been looking at Sound in Science. We have looked at how sound travels through our ears, how we listen to sound, made sound defenders and last but not least made sound generators. We have made guitars, we used cereal boxes, toilet roll holders and elastic bands.

This week in year 4 we have been researching Spain. We have used grid references to locate different cities in Spain, we cannot wait for our Enrichment day - come back next week to see how much fun we had!
This week in year 4 we have been investigating Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have written a Crime Report and a Character reference ready to determine if she is guilty or not guilty! Hopefully this will help us next week with our Newspaper Reports.
This week in year 4 we have been learning about Shabbat. We did a treasure hunt to find out different information about the Jewish celebration.
This week in Science we have started a new topic – Sound. We walked around the school listening to different sounds in the playground, classroom, hall and corridor.
We then looked at how we hear and drew a picture of our ear.
This week in year 4 we have been writing all about The Magic Box
It has been such a fantastic unit to teach and let the children use their imaginations to write their own poems. Miss Roberts was very proud 😊
This week in year 4 we went on our school trip to the musuem of power. We had a lovely down learning all about electricity
This week in year 4 we have been looking at the environment. We researched the impact of humans on the environment and how we can help make the world a better place for us and our future. On researching and finding out lots of information, we designed posters to put up around the school to help save our planet!
This term in year 4 we have been designing, tasting and making biscuits. We made plain, boring biscuits and then re made them with icing, chocolate chips and marshmellows!
This week we are going to evaluate to see how we could make them better.
This week in year 4 we have been thinking and writing persuasively! Mrs Wakeling has written us a letter and is trying to change our packed lunch rules. We do not want brussel sprouts, snozcumbers and green eggs for lunch so we are going to persuade her to change her mind.
This week in 4KR we have been looking at electricity and how electricity travels. We made our own circuit and drew It out so we knew exactly what it needs and how it works.
A very big welcome back to year 4! What a positive, great week we have had in 4KR! We have jumped right back into school and have had a lovely week. We picked out our school counsellors who are…………. Drum roll please Natalie and Alexander they did great speeches and were voted in by the rest of the class well done to the both of you.
