This week in Science, 5GP have been looking at how plants can be reproduced artificially through stem cuttings! They had a look at different plants that can reproduce in this way and have had a go at producing their own tomato and aloe vera plants!

Week Commencing 14th June 2021

This week, 5GP have taken part in Race for Life. Despite getting extremely wet, the class absolutely loved taking part and are so proud of how much money has been raised!

Week Commencing 3rd May 2021

This week 5GP have loved investigating the disappearance of our beloved bear Ofs. Our suspect list started off rather large but was soon narrowed down to just three members of staff! Many enjoyed interviewing key witnesses, as well as interrogating key culprits using their ‘good cop, bad cop’ techniques and questioning styles learnt from PC Taylor!

They have learnt how to test their own fingerprints (looking at their unique formation) as well as comparing footprints in the class to spot significant clues that would be useful in the investigation. However, their favourite moment of all this week was being told that Ofs’ new home for the next week will be in our class! Hopefully we can all keep up our amazing attendance so that he will remain with us!

Week Commencing 26th April 2021

In our history lessons this week, 5GP have been getting into the characters of both the Vikings and the Monks. Some incredible diary entries have been produced outlining the invasion at Lindisfarne and here is just one example comparing the different version of events!

Week Commencing 12th April 2021

This week, 5GP were looking at our ‘history mysteries’ and these were different artefacts from the Vikings. Looking closely at each item, we were able to learn a significant amount about their lives and tried to decide if they deserved their reputation of being horrible and ruthless invaders!

On Thursday we celebrated world book day virtually. It was really lovely to see lots of the class dress up as their favourite characters and I have been really impressed with some of their illustrations for the competition. Here are just a few of their efforts!

Week Commencing 22nd February 2021

This week 5GP have been excited starting their new topic in Science looking at Earth and Space. The class spent time creating different fact files about the planets and investigated their different sizes and distance from the sun! Here are some models of the planets based on their research.

Week Commencing 8th February 2021

Week Commencing 8th February 2021 Continued

This week 5GP have been thinking about a number of serious issues. They have all created pledges for how to ensure that they are being safer online and Lily-Grace has produced a lovely poster encouraging others to do the same!

We have also been writing to our prime minister encouraging him to tackle the UK's mass amount of waste that we throw away into landfill. Both Ayusha and Andrei produced extremely persuasive letters which I will be posting in half term!

Week Commencing 1st February 2021

This week in PSHE, 5GP have been learning about bias and unbiased adverts and have attempted to persuade you all to try something that they like. They have been incredibly creative and I am so proud!

We have also been looking at our own waste and thinking about how we can reuse these materials rather than throwing them away. Some children enjoyed this task so much that they used their mindfulness time to continue their creativity! Lots of incredible products made but I was extremely impressed with these few:

This week, 5GP have been looking at the difference between reversible and irreversible changes. One of our favourite experiments was mixing lemon juice with baking powder as we managed to create an explosion where the reaction produced a gas!
