Week commencing 25th November 2024!
This week, we have been writing a newspaper report on one of the characters in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The class have produced wonderful reports, showcasing their understanding of direct and indirect speech. Aswell as this, 3KL have also had our enrichment day based on Kenya. The children loved learning to play African drums, taking part in our Kenyan quiz and making Kenyan masks. I cant wait for another successful week- the countdown to Christmas is on!
Week commencing 18th November 2024!
What an exciting week we’ve had! In English, we’ve been writing character descriptions, focusing on Charlie Bucket from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The class created wonderful sentences, like “Charlie’s kind heart shone brighter than any golden ticket.” We’re also becoming more independent writers, and it’s fantastic to see everyone’s creativity.
In Maths, we tackled the challenge of fractions, which was tricky but rewarding as we learned how to find halves, quarters, and thirds. Finally, we planned our designs for Kenyan masks, and we’re excited to bring them to life next week. Well done, Year 3—you’ve been amazing!
Week commencing 4th November 2024!
Welcome Back, Year 3!
What a fantastic start it has been! This week, Year 3 dove straight into a new geography topic all about Kenya. We're exploring this vibrant country in greater depth, learning about its landscape, culture, and wildlife. The children are full of questions and eager to discover more about this incredible part of the world.
In art, we began designing Kenyan masks, studying traditional patterns and colours for inspiration. The students showed so much creativity and enthusiasm as they experimented with their own unique patterns—it’s wonderful to see their imaginations come to life!
Week commencing 14th October 2024!
This week was the perfect way to wrap up the term. We finished the poems based on The Storm Whale, and they turned out beautifully—full of creativity and emotion.
In maths, we focused on mental strategies, helping the kids approach problems in new, thoughtful ways. It was great to see them building confidence in their skills.
We also had a trust quiz on the Tower of London, which summed up how much the children had retained. They did brilliantly, showing strong understanding and teamwork.

Week commencing 7th October 2024!
Another positive week in 3KL. I can't believe we are only one week away from half term! This week we have been looking forward to making our fruit tarts which were amazing! Alongside tart making, we have finished our non- chronological reports on the Tower of London, and they ended up being fantastic- filled with description and fun facts! Bring on next week!
Week commencing 30th September 2024!
This week in Year 3 has been truly positive and filled with fantastic learning experiences! We’ve been diving into the topic of time, and the children have shown an impressive understanding. From telling the time on analogue clocks to understanding concepts like ‘half past’ and ‘quarter to’, they have really grasped these tricky ideas with confidence!
In addition, we’ve been celebrating Black History Month, and the children have been learning all about Mo Farah, the incredible long-distance runner. They had fun expressing their creativity by writing acrostic poems about him, highlighting his inspiring journey and achievements. It’s been wonderful to see their engagement and the thoughtful poems they’ve created.
One of the highlights of the week was our exciting trip to the Tower of London! The children were thrilled to see the legendary ravens, which sparked a lot of curious questions. We also explored the historic execution site, which they found both fascinating and a little gory! It was a great way to bring history to life and help them understand the rich heritage of London.
Overall, it’s been a brilliant week, packed with learning, creativity, and unforgettable moments. We’re looking forward to more adventures next week!
Week commencing 23rd September 2024!
This week, we focused on exploring what Christians believe about God, diving into key beliefs and stories. We also spent time learning about the history of the Tower of London, prepping for our upcoming trip. It’s been an exciting week of discovery, with plenty of anticipation for our adventure ahead!
Week commencing 16th September 2024!
This week, I’ve seen a real boost in the children’s independence, which has been incredibly positive. They’re taking on more responsibility for their learning, and it's great to see their confidence growing.
In maths, we’ve been focusing on addition and subtraction using column methods. The children have picked it up quickly and are applying the technique with increasing accuracy.
Overall, it’s been a productive and positive week, with the children making strides both academically and personally. Excited to see their progress continue!
Week commencing 9th September 2024!
What a wonderful week we’ve had in Year 3! The children have been working incredibly hard, and their enthusiasm and dedication have shone through in all their activities.
This week, we continued exploring the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children have been fully immersed in the story, producing some fantastic work that showcases their creativity and understanding.
We also had a lot of fun making fruit skewers this week. The children loved getting hands-on with the fresh ingredients, carefully threading their favourite fruits onto skewers. Not only were they delicious, but it was also a great way for the children to learn about healthy eating and which climates our fruits come from. The smiles on their faces were priceless, and they couldn’t wait to enjoy their tasty creations!
Overall, it has been another positive and productive week in Year 3. I am incredibly proud of each and every child for their hard work, enthusiasm, and the progress they are making. Keep up the great work, Year 3 – you are all amazing!

Week commencing 2nd September 2024!
This first week has been fantastic as everyone settled in really well. It’s been great getting to know each other and building relationships, while learning about their individual interests. This week, we also discussed expectations for the year ahead, and I shared what I hope they will achieve. I’m incredibly proud of how they’ve adjusted, always giving their best effort. Looking forward to what’s to come!
