Week commencing 3rd March 2025!

We ended the week wearing our fantastic World Book Day costumes. 2SA really put their best foot forward and looked fantastic in their costumes. In art we have been creating collages inspired by Nancy Standlee. The children created some beautiful pieces of art, expressing their imagination in new and exciting ways. We can’t wait to create even more masterpieces soon!

Week commencing 10th February 2025!

We have completed our Great Fire of London topic with a bang! After creating our own houses during our Enrichment day, we finally got the opportunity to burn the houses, to see what happened in 1666. I am sure the children will be able to tell you everything about the fire. It was fantastic to see how much the children have enjoyed learning about the Great Fire and the knowledge they have gained over the half term.

Week commencing 3rd February 2025!

In English we have begun the story Marshmallow and the children have engaged with the story so well. They wrote wonderful character descriptions about their monster.

In ICT we have been learning how to code. The children had fun using the Bee Bots and getting them to travel around the classroom, avoiding the tables and each other. It was lovely to see them working together and problem solve among themselves.

Week commencing 27th January 2025!

Another fantastic week in 2SA.

On Friday we spent the day learning more about the Great Fire of London. We built houses similar to the ones that were destroyed in the Great Fire. We had the opportunity to look at artifacts from the Great Fire that tell us all about who was alive during that time and how we know what happened. The children were amazed that there were no phones. This linked in wonderfully with our English work, writing Samuel Pepys’ diary.

Week commencing 20th January 2025!

We have had a lovely week this week. The children discussed what communities they all belong to outside of school. It was a lovely insight into what our lives are like outside of school. We ended the week celebrating culture day. It was lovely to see all the children in traditional clothes or clothes the colour of their countries flag. We made Greek worry beads, learned some French and tried Nigerian snacks. It was a lovely day learning about all of the beautiful cultures in 2SA.

Week commencing 13th January 2025!

This week we have thrown ourselves into the story of Little Red Riding Hood, even learning that sometimes she is rotten. All the children have loved learning about the story and creating their own character descriptions with fantastic vocabulary.

In DT, we have continued to explore linkages and leavers creating our own in preparation for our moving monsters. The children enjoyed the challenge and were able to make their own.

Week commencing 6th January 2025!

What a lovely start to 2025! 

The children have come back ready and raring to learn. In English this week, we have spent the week diving into poetry about our favourite food. We started off with the poem Spaghetti, Spaghetti which the children enjoyed acting out. They then created their own poems about their favourite foods, safe to say we were all very hungry afterwards. 

During music, the children wrote their own songs displaying what they love about their school. It was lovely to hear what subjects they enjoyed and to see them perform their songs. 

It has been a lovely start to 2025.

Week commencing 16th December 2024!

We have ended off the term filled with Christmas joy! The children enjoyed learning about shapes in Maths and completing our Man on the Moon story. In Geography we compared our lives to a young girl in Brazil and realised how our lives might not be that different from others around the world. Also, we designed Christmas wrapping paper that the children designed themselves.

Week commencing 9th December 2024!

It has been a fantastic week in 2SA! After weeks of hard work Year 1 and 2 have produced the most fantastic Christmas performance. They all learnt their lines, sang beautifully and acted fabulously. We hope you enjoyed coming to watch our show. 

This week we have been learning about fractions and how to find fractions of amounts, and the children have been learning and engaging with fractions wonderfully. In English  we have continued with the Man on the moon story, which the children love doing. 

Also, Elfie decided to help in the kitchen making our Christmas dinner. He did a great job because it was very yummy.  

Week commencing 2nd December 2024!

Our cheeky elf crash landed into 2SA this week, shrinking our Christmas tree. However, because they children behaved amazingly Elfie had no choice but to grow our tree again. 2SA has had a wonderful start to December, engaging in our Man on the Moon story and learning about the layers of the Amazon Rainforest. In Geography the children have loved learning about the wonderful nature filling Brazil.  

Week commencing 18th November 2024!

What an exciting week! We began the week with a surprise visit from Urban Strides, we all danced and enjoyed learning some new moves. We also began to study multiplication and the children have enjoyed learning new skills and sharing their existing skills.

Week commencing 11th November 2024!

What a fantastic day! Brazil Day was amazing. The children enjoyed making Christ the Redeemer statues, tasting tropical juices and making Brigadeiro's- a Brazilian dessert. It was so much fun for us all to learn and try new things together.

Week commencing 4th November 2024!

What a lovely start to the Autumn 2 term. We have has a busy start, learning about The Greedy fox, practicing addition and subtraction and learning about Judaism. The children explored Atlas', discovering South America and where Brazil is. They are excited for our Brazil day next week.

Week commencing 14th October 2024!

We have had a fantastic end to the half term. This week we finished making our beautiful puppets. The children learned how to sew and design their own puppets, which they loved doing. They also enjoyed the design phase as they chose what they wanted to make.

Week commencing 30th September 2024!

We had a fantastic trip this week to Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. Unfortunately we couldn't take pictures inside of Buckingham Palace but we saw some beautiful paintings, learned more about the Monarchy and saw King Charles and Queen Camilla's thrones. The children had a fantastic day and really enjoyed themselves.

Week commencing 9th September 2024!

In English this week we began a new story, the papaya that spoke. We all tired a small bit of papaya and all of the children found it to be an 'interesting' taste, not all enjoyed it. During this week, the children have immersed themselves into the story, enjoying their lessons this week. In maths we explored comparing numbers using the greater than, less than and equal to symbol. 

Week commencing 2nd September 2024!

We have had an amazing start to year 2! Everyone has settled in so well and we are off to a fantastic start. This week we learned about the United Kingdom and objects used in the King's coronation. We are off to a fantastic start in 2SA.
